At the start of 2008 the Waggon was based at Chris Hutchinson's near Coalsnaughton. Various parts of the Waggon were worked on (see Projects for further details), the annual bolier inspection passed, and several road-runs out around Coalsnaughton and Alloa.
In May it was then driven over to Balado for the Scottish Traction Engine Society's annual 'Steam in the Park' (pictures), and then back to Chris's at the end of the weekend. In between there were many outings to Kinross and the surrounding area.
A few weeks later it was driven up to Comrie - an interesting journey, through Bridge of Allan, up the A9 to Greenloaning and over the rather narrow and twisty 'ten mile road' from Braco to Comrie.
Once based at Comrie there was an opportunity for considerable work on the Waggon, before then taking part in the annual Comrie Fortnight and Gala (pictures), and then the AGM of the 7¼" Gauge Society (pictures).
Then in late September it was a drive back down to Summerlee Musuem at Coatbridge followed by a weekend of running in Summerlee in support of the museum's re-opening after a £10M redevelopment (pictures).
26 to 29 September 2008 - Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life in Lanarkshire re-opened after a £10M redevelopment. The Waggon and Summerlee's other resident steam engines were running around the site for a much of the holiday weekend; during this time more than 16,000 visitors came through the museum's gates. Further information on Summerlee is available here.
